How to Authorize your Instrument

Note: If you are unsure of where to find the Challenge Code for your instrument, please closely read through all steps below.

After you have fully installed your Spectrasonics instrument, either from the USB drive or a Download Manager, you'll then be able to authorize.

Also, please make sure that your instrument is up-to-date before attempting to authorize.

Once you have installed and updated your instrument, follow the steps below to authorize (should take 5 minutes or less):

1. Open your Spectrasonics instrument, either as a standalone application or within your DAW.

You will now see the Authorization System window:

Note: If you do not see the Authorization System window as shown above when opening your instrument, it is already authorized and you do not need to follow the steps below.

2. Click the REQUEST AUTHORIZATION button.

Note: In the web page that opens, ensure you are logged into your Spectrasonics user account that you've registered your Spectrasonics instrument serial number to.

3. On the User Accout Authorization page that opens, confirm that you see a Challenge Code in the "Paste the Challenge Code" box.

**If the Challenge Code is blank or you see an error message, please see additional troubleshooting articles here.**

4. After filling in your system information, click the SUBMIT button at the bottom of the page.

Note: If you click the SUBMIT button and receive an "invalid challenge" message, this may be due to your internet browser's cache. Click HERE for steps on how to resolve this.

5. On the next page, you’ll see a Response Code. Click the blue "Copy" button to copy it.

6. Return to your instrument (the same one you opened in step #1) and click the PASTE button. The Response Code will now be displayed in your instrument.

7. Click the CONTINUE button.

8. If you are authorizing using the instrument's standalone application, close the application.

If you opened the instrument in your DAW, either completely remove the instrument from the track or restart your DAW.

9. Your instrument should now be authorized for use. To confirm, open its standalone application or in your DAW.

Note: If upon reopening the instrument, you still see the same authorization screen in step #1, see additional troubleshooting steps here: Mac | Windows

If your music computer is not connected to the Internet, please go to this article for instructions on Offline Authorization.
